Dinghy Sailing Resumes

As the Covid-19 restrictions continue to be eased on the Island, allowing a return to competition from Saturday 6th June, IOMYC is putting plans in place to recommence its sailing programme from Thursday 18th June – view the whole programme here.

The maximum number of participants is scheduled to increase to 30 with effect from Monday 15th June, with this number including the Race Officials and Patrol Boat crews. In order to comply with this limit and to ensure that we have a record of who is taking part in each session, members must book their place through the Web-Collect system ( there is no charge for the booking). Use the Sign Up button above.

Good etiquette must be practiced on both the slipway and throughout the boat park to observe the applicable social distancing measures whilst these remain in place, and sailors must be patient and respectful of other slipway users when launching and recovering their boats.

The Club has 3 Laser 2000s and 3 RS Fevas which are available to experienced members to use (with crew from their household) for any of the scheduled sessions. Each boat will be cleaned after use. Boats can be booked by contacting Chris Hill by email at chill@manx.netand through the Web-Collect system.

Unfortunately, the Club is unable to resume its Training Programme at this time, but will keep those enrolled in the Training section updated as and when this position changes.

At the time of writing, the Club House and the changing facilities will remain closed, but toilet facilities are available at the boat park. We hope that in the coming weeks, a further easing of restrictions may allow fuller use and access to the Club House again.

We would remind members of the following stipulations:

  • the safety of a boat and her entire management including insurance is the sole responsibility of the owner/person in charge who must ensure that the boat and crew are adequate to face conditions that may arise.
  • IOMYC shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury howsoever caused to the owner/person in charge or crew, as a result of their taking part. Moreover, every owner/person in charge warrants the suitability of the boat.
  • the wearing of buoyancy aids or lifejackets is compulsory at all times when afloat in dinghies.
