Membership (Equality) Application Policy

This policy outlines the principle of equality which will be applied when processing applications for membership at the Isle of Man Yacht Club (IOMYC). It ensures transparency, fairness, and compliance with the Isle of Man Equality Act 2017, promoting equal access and opportunity for all prospective members.

This policy should be read in conjunction with the IOMYC Memorandum and Articles of Association which outlines the process for application.

The IOMYC is committed to fostering an inclusive environment. Decisions regarding membership will be made without discrimination based on age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation, in accordance with the Isle of Man Equality Act 2017.

All Isle of Man Yacht Club Directors will be formally briefed on this Membership Application (Equality) Policy upon appointment and are expected to apply its principles consistently in their decision-making.

Responsibility for ensuring the policy is communicated and then applied as required to and by the Directors rests with the IOMYC Commodore. For individual membership application reviews and in the Commodore's absence, this duty is delegated to the Chair of the Directors Meeting.
