How to volunteer

968667 orig

IOMYC club is run by volunteers who support the club, our activities and our membership. Duties requiring volunteers are shown on the home page.

We are always delighted to have new volunteers joining us to help out. You may want to volunteer on the water or on dry land and there is opportunity for all. We are keen to welcome volunteers for a few hours, as well as those who can offer more time. Volunteering rotas are done via the on line platform and this gives you the flexibility of swapping shifts when needed, so volunteering can be done around your other commitments.

When you complete your PROFILE you will see the PREFERENCES section (at the bottom of the page) and within that the CLUB LIFE area allows you to indicate your volunteering interests; this can be updated at any time.

Alternatively you can contact us directly (via the Commodore email) to have a chat about what you might be interested in.

Volunteering opportunities include things such as:

  • Safety boat crew
  • Race officer
  • Instructor
  • Events organisation
  • Writing the club newsletter
  • Helping out with social media and blogging
  • Sunday lunchtime "toastie" duty
  • Joining the social committee
  • Antifouling the "Yellow Peril"
  • Handing out flyers

If you have a specific set of skills that you think would be beneficial and we haven't listed them just shout - we want to hear from you!
